FURUSATO

by Duo Cibils - Mizuno

/
1.

In September 2012 and March 2013 Shintaro Mizuno and José Hernán Cibils toured across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, with great success and awakening enthusiasm among fans of classical and tango music.

The recording of this CD began on 11 March 2013, the anniversary of the last terrible tsunami and nuclear catastrophe in Fukushima, and is dedicated to all the victims. Hence its name, “Furusato”.

This album contains a variety of musical styles: argentine tangos, improvisations, original compositions, Zen music and an original arrangement of the Japanese traditional song “Furusato”.

Shintaro Mizuno is a tango violinist from Japan. He also plays classical music, among other genres. Shintaro began to play violin at the age of 2. He studied at the Nagoya University of Arts and at the Prague Conservatory in the Czech Republic. Then he went to Buenos Aires to study tango with Miguel Angel Bertero and Fernando Suárez Paz. Shintaro has performed in Japan with orchestra and chamber groups as soloist. He released his first solo CD in 2012, where he plays tangos and his own compositions.

José Hernán Cibils studied piano at the Conservatory J.J.Castro (La Lucila) and Composition and Conducting at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires. Then he continued studying conducting with Prof. Rolf Reuter at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany, where he currently resides. He has developed an extensive reputation as composer and plays piano with diverse groups, such as “Tango Filarmónico“, which includes three member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He has made already many Japan tours.
